W.Va. Fighting Arts Assoc./Shotokan

I am the (Soke)founder and coach of the W.Va. Fighting Arts Association / Karate & Ju-Jitsu Club. An retired employee of Ames True Temper lawn and garden tool Factory for Thirty two  years and a former United States Marine Veteran served in  Vietnam  . I started my Martial Arts training in Naha City Okinawa  in 1971 while I was stationed there in the Marines.When I got back to the Good old USA I went into training at some other karate schools and  really wasn't what I was looking for. Shopping for Martial Arts schools are like shopping for clothes you have to find the one that fits. Then I ran into a old friend of mine Jon Davis who was teaching Karate under Don Madden of the Ko Sutemi Seiei Kan and that is where I went on to get my Black Belt.I never thought I would be where I'm at today head of my own association ,but with the help and support from  my wife she pushed me in the right direction. I have won many awards since beginning Martial Arts training, competition and instruction over 45 years ago. I have trained with many famous Masters of the Arts, Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Cynthia Rothrock, Joe Lewis and more. I’ve achieved the rank of 10th degree black belt from Japan and from the Martial Arts Association - International and also a member of The United States Marine Corps Martial Arts Assoc.
I did receive the Presidential Sports Award in 1983 and was named A.K.J.U. outstanding instructor and coach for the years of 1985 and 2000. I have trained over 50 Black Belts during my tenure as Sensei and coach at the Jim Spence Center in St.Mary’s WV and the Parkersburg Y.M.C.A. in Parkersburg WV. I have won many championships on the regional, national and state level of competition I was Inducted into the U.S.A. International Black Belt Hall of Fame for (Martial Arts Dedication Award )also Inducted into the World Wide Martial Arts Hall of Fame as (Master of the Year).

Patricia Snider is the Co-Founder of the West Virginia fighting Arts Association/Shotokan,She holds the Rank of 8th Degree Black Belt under Her Instructor Grandmaster Paul Snider.Patricia is also ranked 8th Degree Black Belt  under Grandmaster Bernd Hohle in the Martial Arts Association - International also she has the Budo/Bugei Kokusai Renmei  certificate in the rank of 8th Degree Black Belt.Patricia is the Tournament Director Of the West Virginia Battle Of Champions Karate & Ju-Jitsu Championship in Parkersburg WV.She is the West Virginia and Ohio State weapons Champion Also won (AKJU) All American Karate and Ju-Jitsu Union All American award at The AKJU Nationals.Patricia is on the International Board Of Black Belts World Black Belt Council.Patricia was Inducted in the World Karate Union Hall Of Fame for Martiat Arts Dedication of the Year 2011 and Inducted USA Martial Arts Hall Of Fame Female Martial Arts Master Of the Year 2012 . Patricia Snider also earned the Leading Female Lifetime Achievement Award from the USA Martial Arts Hall Of Fame( 2015 ).
